Today marks the tipping point in my relationship with Copenhagen. After enduring the bone-chilling cold of -10°C weather, herculean Danish winds, and relentless downpours of rain, I’ve weathered the storm and been rewarded with a tantalizing glimpse of the beauty that’s about to engulf this city.

I shit you not, I genuinely laughed out loud as I biked across the Peblinge Sø (canal) and gazed, with awe, at the mesmerizing dance of sunlight reflecting upon the water’s surface. I couldn’t resist but to sit down on a nearby bench along the canals and surrender myself to a moment of serene meditation. As my eyes closed, I felt the sun’s radiant touch warming my pallid skin, infusing me with vitality and joy. In this fleeting interlude, I come to grasp the tantalizing power of our cosmic star. The sun is the source of vitality and life — it has the power to orchestrate the energy of life, the city, and our moods. We are a speck amid the universe, yet, I am experiencing so much gratitude, purpose, and happiness. Life truly is a game of perspective, we are fully in control of how we live and see our lives.

As I am writing this journal at Café Social, accompanied by my coffee and Pain Au Chocolat, I smile at the sheer presence that has engulfed my conscience. I have never felt so present. I feel the warm radiant rays of the sun toasting my forehead and nose. I feel every undulation of my skin as the hairs on my arm erect from the passing winds. I feel the warm coffee settling in my belly, providing soothing warmth from within.

Looking out at this Monet-esque backdrop of colorful buildings, vibrant people, and a beautiful canal, all being lifted to life by the mighty sun, reminds me how lucky I am to be alive. I am incredibly thankful to be healthy enough to enjoy such simple beauties of life. Nothing in the world can be exchanged for a healthy body and mind to experience the beauties of life.
